Used Stamp Appeal
The Sunday Club Group continue to collect used stamps for the current World Mission Appeal. This year the money raised will be used to purchase books for the Giffen Institute of Theology (GIT) of the Presbyterian Church of South Sudan (PCOSS). The GIT has recently relocated to a refugee camp in Kenya after times of violence and war in the South Sudan during which time most of it’s resources were destroyed. The GIT offers education, training and support to those who have fled from war. Please gather your used stamps, cutting 1/2 cm around each one and putting them in the box at the rear of either church. Thank you for supporting our partners. In October 2017 we have sent almost 3kg of used stamps to this appeal.
Stamps…..stamps …. And more stamps….
The Church of Scotland delivers and supports a range of social care programmes in Scotland through its Social Care Council, which operates under the name of CrossReach. CrossReach runs the Prison Visitors Support & Advice Centre in Perth as part of one of their Children and Family Services. They have launched an appeal, encouraging people to donate “used stamps”, the money raised for this will support their work. We hope that our congregation will be happy to donate our “used stamps” from November 17 until end of January 18 to this worthwhile local appeal. The visitor centre supports families of prisoners, some of whom may have travelled a long distance. They aim to maintain communications in the family unit; increase self-esteem; to reduce social isolation and motivate and encourage visitors.
